O.Lopushansky was born on March 13, 1949 in the village of Strilky (Starosambir Region, Lviv Oblast). In 1971, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Ivan Franko Lviv State University. In 1973–1975 he worked at the Computation Centre of the Institute for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. In 1985, he started working at the Department of Functional Analysis of this Institute as a senior research worker, and since 1990 – as Head of the Department. In 1986, he defended his thesis for the Candidate of Sciences (PhD) at Belarusian University, and then the thesis for the Doctor of Sciences (dr hab.) at Lviv University (1994).

In 1996, Oleh Lopushansky was bestowed the academic rank of Professor. He worked as Professor of the Department of Mathematical and Functional Analysis at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (2008–2012).

At Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Oleh Lopushansky was supervising the work on several academic research project topics. With his assistance and participation, the specialized academic council for the defense of dissertations in mathematical analysis was established and has been working up to now. Since 2009, O. Lopushansky has been associate editor of the scientific journal “Carpathian Mathematical Publications”, published by Precarpathian National University. Under the supervision of Prof. O. Lopushansky, nine dissertations for the Candidate of Sciences (PhD) and two dissertations for the Doctor of Sciences (postdoctoral degree) were defended. Four of these scientists now work at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University.

Oleh Lopushansky was re-elected for a 4-year term as Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the Rzeszow University. With his support, students of Precarpathian National University majoring in “mathematics”, “statistics”, “physics”, “applied physics”, “philosophy”, “archaeology” have the opportunity to study at the Rzeszow University of for free under the double diploma programmes.

Scientific research interests of Oleh Lopushansky lie in the area of Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Operator Theory, Generalized Functions Theory. Oleh Lopushansky made a progress in developing Hardy Space Theory for functions of infinitely many variables and its connection with the symmetric Fock space. This allows us to use methods of Infinity-Dimensional Holomorfy for representations of unitary groups. Also, Prof. Lopushansky constructed a new approach to the investigation of the operator calculus on symmetric distributions using the tensor product technic.
