The International Conference
"Infinite Dimensional Analysis and Topology"
The conference dedicated to 70th anniversary of Professor Oleh Lopushansky
October 16 - 20, 2019, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine
Oleh Lopushansky – Doctor of Physics and Mathematics, Professor, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural
Sciences at the University of Rzeszow, Honorary Professor of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (since 2016).
Oleh Lopushansky was born on March 13, 1949 in Lviv region, Ukraine. In 1971 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics
and Mathematics of Ivan Franko Lviv State University. In 1973–1975 he worked at the Computation Centre of the Institute
for Applied Problems of Mechanics and Mathematics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences. In 1985 he started working at
the Department of Functional Analysis of this Institute as a senior research worker, and since 1990 – as the Head of the
Department. In 1986 he defended his thesis for the Candidate of Sciences (PhD) at the Belarusian University, and then the
thesis for the Doctor of Sciences (dr hab.) at Lviv University (1994).
In 1996 Oleh Lopushansky attained the academic rank of Professor. He worked as a professor of the Department of Mathematical
and Functional Analysis at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University (2008–2012).
At Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Oleh Lopushansky was supervising the work on several academic research
project topics. With his assistance and participation, the specialized academic council for the defense of dissertations in
mathematical analysis was established and has been working up to now. Since 2009, O. Lopushansky has been associate editor
of the scientific journal “Carpathian Mathematical Publications”, published by Precarpathian National University.
Under the supervision of Prof. O. Lopushansky, nine PhD dissertations were defended, six of them in Ukraine and three in
Poland. He was an advisor for two DSc dissertations. Four of his postgraduate students now work at Vasyl Stefanyk
Precarpathian National University.
Since 2012 Oleh Lopushansky is the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Rzeszow.
With his support, students of the Precarpathian National University majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Applied Physics,
Philosophy, Archaeology have the opportunity of studying at the University of Rzeszow under the double diploma programmes.
Scientific research interests of Oleh Lopushansky lie in the area of Nonlinear Functional Analysis, Operator Theory,
Generalized Functions Theory. Oleh Lopushansky made progress in developing Hardy Space Theory for functions of infinitely
many variables with the use of an invariant probability measure, satisfying Kolmogorov’s consistency conditions on infinite
dimensional unitary groups, and its connection with the symmetric Fock space. This allows us to use methods of Infinity-Dimensional
Holomorphy for functional representations of infinite dimensional Heisenberg groups. Prof. O. Lopushansky constructed
a new approach to the investigation of the operator calculus on symmetric distributions using the tensor product technic.
Together with his students, he developed a polynomial analogue of the Grothendieck duality theory and associated with it
the Laplace-Fourier analysis for Schwartz-Roumieu distributions, showed applications of this analysis to the construction
of operator calculus of finitely many unbounded operators in convolution algebras of distributions. Also, he has important
results in the theory of spectral approximations of unbounded operators in Banach spaces, where for the case of abstract
operators using the interpolation theory he described Besov-type spaces and Bernstein-Jackson inequalities.
